Author: Maria Teresa Portal was born on 5/7/1955 in Paranhos, Porto. She studied Germanic Philology at the Faculty of Letters of the University of Porto and taught 9th grade, in 77/78, at the Liceu Nacional de Guimarães and 2nd and 3rd grade for 42 years, the last 35 at EB2,3 and Caldas das Taipas, where she lives. She is now retired. She created “O Pequeno Jornalista”, the school newspaper that won 2nd and 3rd place in the School Newspaper Competition in 92/93 and 95/96, keeping it going for 30 years until she retired. He taught journalism at the Journalism Club and then at the Journalism and Creative Writing Workshop. She was in the management of the school/school grouping for 25 years, namely as vice-president and deputy director, having received a commendation in the Diário da República. As a columnist, she has written for the regional newspaper O Povo de Guimarães and for O Reflexo, the town newspaper of Caldas das Taipas. She now wants to devote herself to her writing/poetry career, which she left on the back burner while she was working on her first job. Many of her short stories have been published in the Jornal Escolar and she has read them to schools in the school group, namely the Pinheiral Kindergarten. Although her audience is younger, many of her stories are loved by pre-school and primary school children.
