The Fable of the Grey Beans

12,50

José Vaz (wrote) Sara Cunha (illustrated)

New edition A story told in the form of a fable, in which the characters are beans of different varieties, according to the human characteristics of typical figures from the time of the Estado Novo.

A metaphor about the dictatorship lived by the Portuguese for 48 years and the freedom brought by the carnation revolution of April 25, 1974.

Three beans, the Tick, the Nobleman and the Friar, took over the kingdom of the “Garden-to-the-Sea-Planted”, stealing the Sun, the Water and the Air from the other beans that, for lack of it, became gray.

The protests of many beans, such as the Red, the Canary, the Black or the Rajado, managed to give a push to the oppressors (the roots were already rotten) and distribute what had once been taken from them. From that day of Freedom, the beans began to have their old colors because spring had arrived in the kingdom of the “Garden-à-Beira-Mar-Plantado”.
